So that we can correctly match payments to registrations, all mailed payments should be accompanied the Invoice/Transmittal Form. This form is not a registration form and does not substitute for the participant having filled out the Online Registration Form.

B. Payment by credit card (VISA, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express).

Payment by credit card can be made in one of two ways:

1. Use the Payment of Fees Form. This is a secure (locked) online form. Identifying information should be for the teacher, not the district (we need to be able to match this form up with the registration form). Use Item #8 to provide any additional information (such as who to contact with questions, etc.). Please do not fill out the Online Registration form for this purpose.

In order for the data to be transmitted correctly, it is very important that VISA, MasterCard, and Discover numbers be formatted as follows: ####-####-####-####. American Express should be formatted as follows: ####-######-#####. The date should be formatted as follows: MM_YY (no slash between MM and YY!)

2. Fax a copy of the Invoice/Transmittal Form to AP Seminars at 650-967-7388. There is space on that form to enter credit card information.

Use the PayPal button below. Since the PayPal submission will have the district identifying information on it, please follow up your payment by notifying AP Seminars of the teacher for whom the payment is being made. The easiest way to do this is by email to apseminars@comcast.net

Description of AP English Language Workshop

This workshop is designed for AP English Language and Composition teachers and will focus on methods for teaching synthesis, argument, and analysis of texts and visuals. Participants will work individually and in groups with AP multiple choice questions, free response essays, rhetorical analysis and non-fiction texts. From the session, participants will be able to create or enhance an AP Language Syllabus. We will also discuss the relationship of our AP* course to AP English Literature. A major focus will the new College Board resources and recent changes to the AP English Language and Composition Exam.

Technology

If you have a computer or tablet, please bring it. Although having technology access in the classroom is not required, past participants have stated that it is helpful. You will have access to a computer lab, and our class will have one session in the lab for exploring electronic resources on a provided flash drive.

Please read and bring The Lost City of the Monkey God and two editorials by your favorite journalist.

Note: Registration and Payment are separate, but both essential, processes:. Register first and THEN make payment. We have no way to credit a payment without a registration on file.

When registering, please note the following:

• The registration form should be completed by the participant, NOT by school personnel (administrative or clerical). .

• When registering, please provide the information requested. For example, if a home phone number is requested, do not provide a school number (if we need to get ahold of you outside of school, we will be unable to). Providing a school address rather than a home address can result in your not receiving materials shipped to you.

• Please do not provide a school email address as your primary email unless you have no other option. School emails often have difficult to penetrate firewalls or are out of service in the summer. Most of our communication problems occur when trying to contact participants via a school email. If you have one, personal email please!

Fee Options

In 2024 we are offering one online events and one in person event.. Due to savings involved in not having to pay travel and lodging expenses for presenters of online classes, we are able to offer them at a lower price. Go to our Home Page to see which classes are offered which week.

• Online Event (Week 1): July 15-1 8, 2024

There are three registration periods, defined in terms of when payment is received, not the date the registration form is received. The registration fees for these periods are as follows:

• Early-bird Registration: $595.00 (paid on/before April 13, 2024)

• Regular Registration: $645.00 (paid after April 13 and on/before June 13, 2024)

• Late Registration: $660.00 (paid after June 13, 2024)

• In-Person Event (Week 2): July 22-25, 2024

• Lab Fee (Art & Design, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science): $30.00

• Cancellation/Refund Policy: $50.00 cancellation fee for cancellations made on/before 5/29/2024. $100.00 cancellaton fee for cancellations made after 5/29/2024. At the discretion of AP Seminars Silicon Valley, there may be no refunds after June 28, 2024 (see FAQ #12 for additional information.)

• College Board Scholarship recipients (tuition only including lab fees) will be paid directly to us by the College Board. If you are a College Board Scholarship recipient and have completed the registration form, please send an email to Duane@apseminars.com so that we can properly credit your registration. Do indicate which type of scholarship you have received (AP Fellows, AP Rural Fellows, or AP Capstone).

• Other Fees (Optional)

• College Credit (optional). Two semester units of graduate credit will be available from the University of San Diego for $158 (2023 price-subject to change). Information on obtaining credit will be available on this website by July 1, 2024. Payment is to be made direct to University of San Diego. Applying for credit must be completed by August 5, 2024 (date subject to change).

• College Board Materials (CED, student samples)

• Online courses. The CED and any other workshop materials (handbooks in some cases) produced by the College Board will be supplied to you in virtual format. If you wish to have a hard copy of the CED, you may purchase one directly from the College Board Store for $35. Also, there are many free materials available at AP Central.

• In Person courses: All College Board materials will be provided to you in hard copy. If you register after July 1, you may have the materials sent to your home rather than receiving them in time for the workshop. Your presenter will be able to provide you with materials to use during the workshop or you can download the pdf version from AP Central.

• Lunch plan for in-person participants (optional). Some people like to bring their own lunch, some like to eat off campus (there is a shopping center across the street), and some may skip lunch altogether. Accordingly, we have not built the cost of lunch into our pricing. A lunch plan (sandwich or salad from Panera Bread, fruit, cookie, water) is available and will be delivered to you at Palo Alto High School. The cost is $70.00 for four lunches.

• Housing (optional). Lodging can be pricey in this area. Please go to AP Seminars Lodging for some suggestions.
